Community Development 

Program Information


Funding is available to not-for-profit community organizations, municipalities and industry associations to assist with a range of community development initiatives. These include the development of community infrastructure and capacity building. Projects must  build on a community’s strengths with a view to encouraging the attraction of leveraged investment, the creation of sustainable wealth, the development of a competitive advantage, and the enhancement of quality of life.

In addition to providing funding for community infrastructure, community capacity building and business development, ECBC also offers programs that focus on specific economic development activities. They are: 

E-Commerce

ECBC provides assistance to commercial and non commercial entities to defray the costs associated with the development and upgrading of websites with E-commerce capabilities. For more information, click here (PDF, 100kb).


Festivals and Events Program

Each year, ECBC makes funding available to assist incorporated, non-profit entities organize and host festivals and events. The assistance is targeted at events with the potential to generate new visitation or to better serve visitors to the island, increase lengths of stay and spending, and improve the quality of the visitor experience.

Community Centres Program

ECBC makes a limited amount of funding available to improve community infrastructure by assisting with improvements to community centres.

Who is eligible? 

Not-for-profit organizations, including municipalities, cooperatives, educational institutions, economic development organizations and business, technology and industry associations, are eligible for funding.


Assistance

Assistance is non-repayable and is limited to the proportion of the eligible costs that, in the opinion of ECBC, is required for the project to proceed.
