Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre
The Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is a focal point in the region, serving residents, tourists and the business community. The state-of-the-art Centre houses an arena, fitness centre, meeting and conference facilities, performance space, gallery and retail space, municipal offices, racquetball courts, and a walking track.
The arena has 1,000 fixed seats with the capacity on the arena floor to host an additional 1,000 people in theatre style seating. This is an excellent space for trade shows and the arena is the first in North America to use engineered natural daylight to illuminate the ice surface – showcasing yet another Cape Breton innovation.
ECBC was a major financial contributor to the construction of the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, recognizing that the facility was an important piece of social infrastructure for the community and a means to foster and promote further economic development.
